Job summary

CJS Conveyance is seeking a motivated engineer to support senior staff on water and wastewater conveyance projects across North Carolina, including Cary and Charlotte. The role involves design, permitting, and construction administration with opportunity to grow responsibilities.

The position requires a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree (MS preferred) and 2–5 years of relevant experience. AutoCAD/Civil 3D proficiency, GIS skills, and NC licensure or progress toward it are desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; MS a plus.
• 2–5 years in water/wastewater or land development engineering.
• On track for (registered EI) or licensed P.E. in NC (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Lead internal tasks for deliverable production.
• Prepare technical reports and preliminary evaluations.
• Participate in project meetings with senior engineers.
• Develop design documents including plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Perform engineering analyses using software and textbook calculations.
• Prepare regulatory permit applications and coordinate with review agencies.
• Prepare opinions of probable construction cost.
• Assist with bid phase services and construction administration.
• Develop innovative solutions based on training and experience.
• Participate in proposals and client presentations.
