Job summary

Woodard & Curran in Groveland, FL is seeking an Operator Trainee to join our water and wastewater operations team. The role starts with 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays, with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed to meet plant demands.

You will support treatment systems, run tests, monitor processes, maintain logs, and assist with maintenance and general plant duties while pursuing Florida licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or equivalent and Florida driver’s license.
• Demonstrated computer skills and willingness to learn water treatment processes.
• Able to work both indoors and outdoors in a plant environment.
• Committed to maintaining cleanliness, safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support Water, Wastewater and Maintenance departments to ensure proper operation of treatment systems and equipment.
• Assist with laboratory tests, sample analysis, and equipment testing.
• Monitor and adjust system flows and treatment conditions; maintain reports and logs.
• Maintain plant equipment, lab counters, floors, and general grounds; perform basic pump and motor maintenance.

Position

Operator Trainee – Groveland, Florida.

Schedule

Hours 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with flexibility to work different shifts as needed to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities

• Support the Water, Wastewater and Maintenance departments ensuring proper operation and maintenance of treatment systems and equipment.
• Assist with laboratory tests, sample analysis, and equipment testing including cleanup of autosampler bottles.
• Monitor and adjust system flows, treatment process conditions, and storage levels; maintain system reports and logs.
• Help maintain and clean plant equipment, lab counters, and floors, including general grounds maintenance and basic pump and motor maintenance.
• Attend required training, take tests, and participate in on‑job training to meet State of Florida licensing prerequisites.
• Work toward obtaining a State of Florida Class “C” Drinking Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license within 12 months of hire.
• Make sound process control decisions, follow instructions, and adhere to safety procedures.
• Complete a background check, pre‑placement physical, and drug screen before employment.
• Use the computer systems to manage work orders, the computerized maintenance management system, and order plant supplies.
• Assist with project activities as needed and support overall plant operations.
