Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in our Boston, MA office. This role offers hands-on project experience, professional growth, and exposure to the latest technology to solve client challenges.

Local candidates preferred; the internship emphasizes learning through workshops, group projects, and collaboration with experienced engineers. Prior internship and AutoCAD knowledge are valued assets.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a B.S. in Civil, Environmental or related Engineering.
  • Previous internship experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with designing water collection, storage, and distribution systems as well as water treatment systems.
  • Assist with designing wastewater collection and transmission systems.
  • Provide support by conducting alternative technology evaluations.
  • Help with performing hydraulic modeling, preparing specifications and design calculations, and preparing technical memoranda.

Salary Range

$18.75/hour- $29.75/hour. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.

Summer Intern Program

During the summer intern program, interns gain hands‑on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full‑time employee.

Our interns get the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops and events, including:
