Job summary

Freese and Nichols, Inc. is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer & Hydraulic Modeler in Dallas or Fort Worth, TX. You will own water and wastewater planning and modeling projects, advancing toward leadership within a stable, growth-focused environment.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with senior leaders, and communicate project progress and risks to clients and teams while expanding your technical and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or successful PE exam completion with ability to obtain licensure within 1 year.
  • 4+ years of engineering experience in water, wastewater, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing or supporting project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage water and wastewater master planning projects, including schedule, budget, and client coordination.
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for Dallas–Fort Worth area clients, building long-term relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and senior leaders to deliver high-quality planning solutions.

Job description

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer & Hydraulic Modeler to join our team in Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas. In this role, you will take ownership of impactful water and wastewater planning and modeling projects while building a long-term career path into leadership. You will work alongside experienced leaders, gain exposure to complex infrastructure challenges, and grow within a stable environment designed to support your professional development over time.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage water and wastewater master planning projects, including schedule, budget, and client coordination
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact for Dallas-Fort Worth-area clients, building trusted, long-term relationships
  • Collaborate with internal teams and senior leaders to deliver high-quality planning solutions
  • Support delivery of critical projects through sound engineering judgment and clear communication of progress, risks, and outcomes with clients and internal teams
  • Mentor early-career engineers and help foster a supportive, growth-oriented team environment
  • Expand your technical and leadership capabilities through increasing responsibility and structured development opportunities
Qualifications

Preferred
  • Experience in water and wastewater master planning, distribution and collection system hydraulic modeling, sanitary sewer evaluation studies, and/or impact fee studies
  • Experience working with municipal clients
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or support junior staff
  • Interest in long-term leadership growth and team development
  • Familiarity with planning and modeling tools, GIS, or data analysis for infrastructure systems
