Job description

Waggoner Engineering is actively seeking a highly skilled Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team at our HQ in Jackson, Mississippi.

Department: Water/Wastewater

Location: Memphis, TN

The focus of this position is providing planning, design and technical assistance to the Discipline Manager and other members of the design team in delivering projects within budgetary and time constraints.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs engineering analyses and evaluations (primarily computer-based) in support of the planning and design of civil works projects.
  2. Performs analysis and design of water distribution systems; water supply and treatment components; sanitary sewer systems and components; transmission, treatment and disposal systems; POTWs and other projects.
  3. Conducts assessment and evaluation of existing system conditions and develops recommended remedial measures.
  4. Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.
  5. Conducts project status review with project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work completed, and monitors timeliness of project completion.
  6. Attends meetings on project management.
  7. Assists Project Manager in preparation of engineering studies and reports.
  8. Provides technical guidance and training to members of the project team.
  9. Prepares project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.
  10. Assists in preparation of contract documents and technical specifications.
  11. Assists Project Manager in assuring quality control procedures are performed.
  12. Maintains responsibility for the accuracy of each segment of the work and the final check of the work.
  13. Maintains responsibility for adherence to applicable codes.
  14. Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to engineering staff.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Experience
• 4+ years of related design experience, and knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations required.
• One to two years of coordination/supervisory experience preferred.

Certifications/Registrations
• License as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Mississippi required (PE in a contiguous state and ability to obtain Mississippi PE within six months is desired).
• Certifications applicable to civil engineering, water and/or wastewater plant operations desired.

Other Knowledge and Skills
• Proficient in design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) required.
• Knowledge of design on-line reports and databases preferred.
• Understanding of and experience in the application of sustainability principles in public infrastructure.
• Knowledge and ability to use (or learn) Deltek Financial and Project Management system is required.
• Superior communication skills and in-depth knowledge of company products and operations.
