Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Civil Engineer to lead water and wastewater design projects in Kentucky. You will design systems for drinking water and wastewater transport, assist senior staff, review drainage, and coordinate with contractors and government agencies.

A PE license is required, along with a BS or MS in Civil Engineering and 5+ years in public infrastructure. You will perform feasibility studies, prepare technical reports, and align with marketing on RFPs and scoping.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering required.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Experience designing water treatment plants is a plus.
  • 5+ years in public infrastructure Water Resources projects required.
  • Project and/or client management experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Design systems for water/wastewater transport and pumping/storage.
  • Assist senior design staff on water and wastewater treatment plant projects.
  • Review drainage systems for stormwater and floodplains to safeguard ecosystems.
  • Assess needs for treatment systems based on population and development; conduct feasibility studies.
  • Analyze treatment technologies and recommend effective methods.
  • Design pumping and force main system specifications.
  • Collaborate with contractors and government agencies during construction.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and codes.
  • Prepare written technical reports and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Provide clients with technical support and subject matter expertise.
  • Align with marketing on RFPs, presentations, and scoping projects.

Job description

  • Design systems to safely, efficiently, and effectively transport drinking water and/or wastewater to and from end users, including pumping and storage projects
  • Assist senior design staff in design of water and/or wastewater treatment plant projects
  • Review and analyze drainage systems for storm water or floodplains to ensure safety of the ecosystem and public; designs necessary conveyance systems to safeguard the area
  • Assess the need for drinking water and/or wastewater treatment systems based on current and projected future population and/or development demands; conducts feasibility studies for the construction of public utility infrastructure to meet identified needs
  • Analyze, or assist with analysis of, various water and/or wastewater treatment technologies, and recommend the most effective method
  • Design and develop specifications for various pumping and force main systems
  • Collaborate with contractors and government agencies regarding construction of assigned projects
  • Ensure design and equipment specifications comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes
  • Conduct feasibility and related studies regarding the collection, treatment, or distribution of water or wastewater, and prepare written technical reports
  • Provide clients with technical support and subject matter expertise on water resources related issues
  • Conduct appropriate cost-benefit analyses for assigned projects
  • Align with marketing team on RFPs, presentations and scoping projects
Requirements
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience designing water treatment plants, in part or in whole, a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in public infrastructure projects related to Water Resources field
  • Project and / or Client Management experience is required
  • Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small- to large-scale multi-discipline water/wastewater projects of varying technical complexity
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication, as well as time management skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines and other assigned project parameters
  • Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
