Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Water & Wastewater Design Engineer to support advanced manufacturing facilities in Texas. The role focuses on designing, improving, and supporting water treatment, wastewater, water reuse, and high-purity water systems in semiconductor environments.

The candidate will lead projects from front-end through detailed design, produce PFDs/P&IDs, assist in field construction, and mentor other engineers while ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of water and wastewater infrastructure design experience.
• Texas PE license or licensure by comity preferred.
• Experience with advanced water treatment technologies (lime softening, ultrafiltration, RO, water reuse).
• Knowledge of OSHA, ASME, NFPA codes and building codes.
• Experience with PHA, HAZOP, and PSM.

Responsibilities

• Design, improve, and support water and wastewater systems for advanced manufacturing facilities.
• Provide process engineering support to operations and field teams; resolve bottlenecks and inquiries.
• Lead projects from FEED through detailed design; produce Basis of Design, PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and 3D piping designs.
• Generate process calculations and documentation (Aspen, pressure relief, Pipe-Flo, pressure drop).
• Develop Sequence of Operations / Controls Narrative documents and cause & effect matrices.
• Review others' process design work to ensure high quality across P&IDs and drawings.

Overview

This Water & Wastewater Design Engineer supports advanced manufacturing facilities in Texas. This role focuses on designing, improving, and supporting water treatment, wastewater, water reuse, and high-purity water systems used in semiconductor and manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering fundamentals and a broad set of process engineering tools to solve technical problems and create novel detailed designs for water and wastewater systems such as industrial wastewater, high purity water, water reuse, as well as associated support facilities and chemical systems.
• Provide process engineering support to operations to help resolve process bottlenecks and other long-standing issues. Participate in field construction and commissioning activities by serving as the point of contact for technical questions and real-time issue resolution.
• Provide technical expertise to the engineering/design team and other groups within organization as a subject matter expert (SME); mentor other engineers & team members
• Lead projects from front-end through detailed design and generate deliverables including: Scoping documents; Basis of Design reports; PFDs; P&IDs; Layouts; and 3D piping design
• Generate process engineering calculations and documentation, including: Aspen simulation where required, pressure relief valve calculations, Pipe-Flo modeling, and pressure drop analysis
• Develop Sequence of Operations / Controls Narrative documents; cause & effect matrices
• Review process design work performed by others on the Process Team to ensure every design maintains the highest level of quality, including P&ID’s, plan drawings, and single line iso’s, review and/or update master piping and equipment specification

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in: Water and wastewater infrastructure design Process improvement within high-tech industries such as semiconductors, specialty chemicals, solar, batteries, or similar environments.
• Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure through comity preferred.
• Experience with advanced water treatment technologies such as: Lime softening Ultrafiltration Ion exchange Reverse osmosis Water reuse systems
• Knowledge of: OSHA requirements for hazardous systems ASME pressure vessel and piping codes NFPA codes (including NFPA 30 and 55) Applicable building codes
• Experience leading or participating in: Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) HAZOP reviews Process Safety Management (PSM) systems
