Responsibilities

• Observe construction work to ensure procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
• Measure distances to verify dimensions for installations and layouts.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observe work to ensure procedures followed and materials conform to specifications.
• Examine workmanship for conformity to standards.
• Interpret plans for contractors and discuss deviations with engineers, contractors, and owners.
• Record quantities of materials received or used.
• Maintain a daily log of construction and inspection activities.
• Compute monthly estimates of work completed and review contractor payments.
• Prepare sketches of installations that deviate from plans.
• Monitor contractor schedules and coordinate testing with labs.
