Water Truck Operator – Surface Mining & Quarry Operations

About this position

Description:

Rock Pros USA is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Water Truck Operator to support quarry and crushing operations at our Lower Bell location. This position is responsible for maintaining safe working conditions through effective dust control, haul road maintenance, and operational support while working alongside production crews and heavy equipment operators.

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, operating heavy equipment, and contributing to a team-oriented mining operation.

Water Truck Operations

• Safely operate a water truck throughout quarry and production areas.
• Apply water to haul roads, stockpiles, traffic routes, crushing areas, and work zones to control dust and improve visibility.
• Monitor road conditions and maintain proper moisture levels for safe equipment operation.
• Adjust watering activities based on weather, traffic volume, and production demands.
• Refill water tanks and monitor equipment performance throughout the shift.

Road Maintenance & Production Support

• Assist in maintaining haul roads and quarry access routes.
• Identify and report potholes, washouts, erosion, and other roadway hazards.
• Support production activities by watering active loading, crushing, and screening areas.
• Coordinate with loaders, excavators, haul trucks, and crushing crews to support efficient operations.
• Assist with general site housekeeping and cleanup efforts.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

• Perform daily pre-shift and post-shift inspections.
• Inspect fluid levels, tires, lights, brakes, pumps, hoses, and spray systems.
• Report maintenance concerns and equipment deficiencies promptly.
• Maintain clean and professional equipment appearance.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance as assigned.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all company policies, MSHA regulations, and site safety procedures.
• Conduct workplace examinations as required.
• Wear required PPE at all times.
• Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training programs.
• Maintain situational awareness around mobile equipment and personnel.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.

General Duties

• Operate additional equipment as qualified and assigned.
• Assist with quarry maintenance projects and operational needs.
• Support production goals while maintaining safe work practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required

• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active quarry operations.
• Strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred

• Previous water truck, haul truck, loader, excavator, or heavy equipment experience.
• Mining, quarry, aggregate, construction, or industrial experience.
• MSHA training and mine-site experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb in and out of equipment multiple times throughout the shift.
• Ability to sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to walk on uneven terrain and work around active equipment.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in dusty, noisy, and outdoor environments, including Arizona heat.
