Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Water/Wastewater Operator Certification is required.
• Valid Driver License is required.
• Familiarity with industry software and ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and monitor equipment and processes.
• Conduct regular test checks on chemical levels, water quality, and equipment operations.
• Monitor water quality to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Quality control by performing routine testing of water and wastewater to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Record and report accurate operational data and performance metrics.
• Perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance on treatment equipment and systems, including minor electrical and mechanical repairs, SCADA system, and variable frequency drives.
• Oversee grounds and building maintenance.
• Respond to emergency situations and system failures.
• Travel to assigned plants in the local area.
• Work various shifts as the treatment plant operates 24/7.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
• All other duties as assigned.

Major Job Duties

The Plant Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and management of water and wastewater treatment plant. This role ensures the water and wastewater treatment processes comply with environmental regulations and standards. The operator will monitor and control the quality of water and wastewater, conduct routine inspections, and perform necessary maintenance to ensure the plant's smooth operation.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and monitor equipment and processes to ensure proper operation
• Conduct regular test checks on chemical levels, water quality, and equipment operations
• Monitor water quality throughout the facility to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Quality control by performing routine testing of water and wastewater to ensure compliance with regulations
• Compile and enter plant operation and water quality data into SAMS system for use in required reports
• Record and report accurate operational data and performance metrics
• Perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance on treatment equipment and systems, including minor electrical and mechanical repairs, SCADA system, and variable frequency drives
• Operate and maintain chemical feed pumps for accurate dosing
• Oversee grounds and building maintenance
• Respond to emergency situations and system failures
