Job summary

City of Odessa is seeking an Utilities Maintenance Technician to maintain mechanical, piping and structural systems at the Bob Derrington Water Reclamation Plant, Water Treatment Plant, and related facilities. You will troubleshoot, repair and inspect equipment, perform baseline maintenance, and assist with work orders and safety practices.

The role requires use of hand and power tools, ability to work around hazardous chemicals like chlorine, and the capacity to climb water towers and operate

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must possess general plant maintenance experience with mechanical components such as pumps, drive trains, bearing assemblies, chemical feed systems and equipment, piping systems and miscellaneous structural component repair.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair plant and off-site facility process equipment, including disassembly, cleaning, repair and reassemble, installation and repair of piping and related systems.
• Clean basins by washing down or other means.
• Enter and inspect basins and reservoirs, including overhead ones.
• Complete all work orders and related paperwork.
• Ensure tools are maintained in good working order.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Work with and near hazardous chemicals such as chlorine.
• Assist supervisor to determine best methods to complete projects.
• Train new employees.
• Report equipment conditions and help resolve issues.
• Maintain regular attendance and assist with inventory and ordering of equipment.
