Job summary

Univar Solutions USA LLC is seeking an Application Development Specialist - Water Treatment to deliver technical water treatment solutions, support sales teams, and build strategic customer partnerships. You will help implement products, develop proposals, and drive growth through a consultative approach.

The role requires 5+ years in sales with a technical focus, strong industry knowledge, and the ability to travel across the Northeast District and adjacent states.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of sales experience with a technical product focus, preferably within water treatment, chemicals, or industrial solutions.
• Strong understanding of consultative selling and technical solution development.
• Experience working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams at multiple organizational levels.
• Knowledge of water treatment products, applications, and industry regulations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive business growth.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and business ethics.
• Proficiency with CRM systems (SFDC preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to travel and conduct customer-facing technical support activities.
• Experience in chemical distribution or water treatment markets.
• Technical knowledge of NSF requirements, regulatory compliance, and water industry applications.
• Demonstrated training, presentation, and business development experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and water treatment expertise to customers and sales teams.
• Recommend and implement water treatment products, services, and application solutions.
• Partner with customers to troubleshoot formulation and application challenges.
• Conduct joint customer visits with sales representatives and suppliers.
• Develop technical proposals and support business development initiatives.
• Monitor market, regulatory, and industry trends to identify new opportunities.
• Deliver customer, supplier, and internal training presentations.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison with supplier partners.
• Support new product launches, supplier qualification activities, and NSF requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers on product development, service solutions, and market strategies.
• Assist with customer and supplier contract discussions and negotiations.
• Maintain customer opportunities, activities, and reports within SFDC.
• Support business planning, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.
• Participate in trade shows, industry conferences, webinars, and professional organizations.
• Partner with Operations to improve chemical handling processes and water-focused initiatives.
• Act as a bridge between Sales, Operations, suppliers, and customers to ensure business objectives are achieved.
• Provide product and industry training to sales, support, and operations teams.
