Job summary

City of Santa Fe Springs is seeking an entry level Water Department worker to perform a range of semi-skilled maintenance and construction tasks for the distribution system and appurtenances. The role involves monitoring water instruments, performing routine maintenance, and assisting with reports and data collection.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Missouri driver’s license, and a willingness to follow safety procedures while working with light equipment

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to carry out general mechanical tasks.
  • Aptitude for maintaining detailed records and reports.
  • Capacity to deal effectively with the public and city officials.
  • Sound understanding of safety rules and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of construction equipment used in water works.
  • Awareness of hazards and safety precautions in public works.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and calibrate a variety of water instruments.
  • Perform indoor and outdoor construction, maintenance, repair, testing and reporting tasks.
  • Provide statistical information on water division activities.
  • Carry out semi-skilled maintenance work on water operations.
  • Prepare reports as requested.
  • Operate light equipment such as pickup trucks and similar vehicles.
  • Assist in routine maintenance and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
  • Install and maintain water mains, fire hydrants and related appurtenances.
  • Follow daily and weekly work schedules to complete projects timely.
  • Follow departmental rules and assist coworkers as needed.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and company policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
