Lehi City is seeking a Water Systems Operator at multiple grades to maintain and repair the storm drain collection system. The role may require operating machinery to clean water systems and meeting on-call expectations as scheduled.

Hiring at Operator 1–4 levels depends on experience, with required CDL and wastewater certifications to be obtained within set timeframes.

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Experience with underground water systems preferred.

WATER SYSTEMS OPERATOR 1/2/3/4 - STORM DRAIN

CLOSING DATE: Open until Filled

PAY RANGE: Depending on qualifications:

  • Water Operator 1 – Distribution Grade 1 within 12 months – Experience: 0-1 years – Starting Pay Minimum $21.35 – Starting Pay Maximum $25.62
  • Water Operator 2 – Distribution Grade 2 – Experience: 2 years – Starting Pay Minimum $22.41 – Starting Pay Maximum $27.46
  • Water Operator 3 – Distribution Grade 3 – Experience: 4 years – Starting Pay Minimum $24.21 – Starting Pay Maximum $29.65
  • Water Operator 4 – Distribution Grade 4 – Experience: 8 years – Starting Pay Minimum $25.66 – Starting Pay Maximum $31.43

SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday: 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, with the possibility of on-call rotations and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from high school.
  • Previous experience with underground water systems, equipment placement, residential service locations, easements and right-of-way specifications is preferred.
  • Must have a Utah CDL license or obtain it within 6 months.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in operating various types of tools and power equipment to perform essential functions;.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisor, subordinates and the public.
  • Will be required to pass a drug test and back ground check.
  • Position level depends on experience and State Wastewater Collection Certification.
  • Must obtain State Wastewater Certification Grade 1 within 12 months.
  • Employee must reside within 30 minutes of City Limits (based on average Google Maps drive time) for on-call purposes. Employee can take up to 6 months to relocate within appropriate response time area.

Employment in this position is conditional upon passing a pre-employment background and drug test.
