Responsibilities

• Integrate real-time operational data from SCADA, IoT, AMI, GIS, CMMS and enterprise systems into engineering workflows.
• Develop and use digital twins and intelligent system models for hydraulic, process, and operational insights.
• Support deployment of smart utility technologies and connected infrastructure.
• Analyze live and historical data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities.
• Deliver dashboards and metrics to enable data-driven decisions.
• Lead NRW management projects and assist business development.

Description

The Water Systems Intelligence Engineer bridges engineering, operations, and analytics to transform water and wastewater systems into data-driven, intelligent assets. This role combines traditional water infrastructure expertise with real-time operational data, digital twins, predictive analytics, and advanced visualization tools to improve performance, reliability, resilience, and decision-making across utility systems. Turning live system data into smarter decisions, optimized operations, and resilient water infrastructure. This role has two primary objectives: 1. Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Project Management, assistance, and Program development. 2. Technical support for Business Development efforts.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering, utility operations, hydraulic modeling, or digital water technologies.
• Experience working with operational data systems including SCADA, GIS, SQL databases, and cloud platforms.
• Strong analytical and Problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with digital twin platforms and smart utility programs.
• Familiarity with machine learning, predictive modeling, and AI-assisted analytics.
• Experience integrating engineering models with enterprise asset management and operational systems.
• Consulting experience working directly with utility clients.

DURING YOUR WORK-DAY, YOU WILL:

Digital Water & System Intelligence

• Integrate real-time operational data from SCADA, IoT sensors, AMI, GIS, CMMS, and enterprise systems into engineering workflows.
• Work with intelligent system models that provide actionable insights into hydraulic, process, and operational performance.
• Support deployment of smart utility technologies and connected infrastructure solutions.

Data Analytics & Decision Support

• Analyze live and historical system data to identify trends, anomalies, risks, and optimization opportunities.
• Utilize dashboards, visualizations, and performance metrics that enable data-driven operational decisions.
• Apply statistical methods, machine learning, and predictive analytics to forecast system behavior and infrastructure needs.
• Deliver operational intelligence that improves efficiency, reliability, regulatory compliance, and asset performance.

Engineering & System Optimization

• Assess hydraulic and process modeling studies for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
• Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities for energy optimization, inflow and infiltration reduction, pressure management, and operational improvements.
• Support master planning, capital improvement programs, and resilience initiatives through advanced analytical insights.
• Perform engineering assessments and provide recommendations based on model outputs and field operations.

Client Consulting & Collaboration

• Collaborate with utility operators, engineers, IT/OT teams, and executive leadership.
• Translate complex technical analyses into clear business and operational recommendations.
• Assist the analytics Team in client engagements focused on digital transformation and operational modernization.
• Support proposal development, strategic planning, and innovation initiatives.
• Lead individual NRW Management projects as required.
• operational modernization.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

• Evaluate and implement field operational activities using emerging technologies including:
  • Digital Twins
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Machine Learning (ML)
  • Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)

  • Cloud-Based Analytics Platforms

• Contribute to the firm's digital water strategy and thought leadership initiatives.

Business Development

• Work closely with the Business Development Director to align high-level technical solutions with Water and Waste Water market expansion and territory
• Activities may include, targeted client workshops and technical discovery sessions , attend any events Conferences, training ,etc. to uncover new utility infrastructure needs within expansion territories.
• Support proposal development, technical scoping

The successful Water Systems Intelligence Engineer will:

• Transform utility data into actionable operational insights.
• Identify measurable opportunities for efficiency, resilience, and cost savings.
• Bridge the gap between engineering, operations, and technology teams.
• Assist internal and external clients to accelerate their digital transformation journey and maximize the value of their infrastructure investments. This may include direct Project Management.
• Schedule will include participation in on all weekly client call as well as supporting the efforts of our Business Development Team..
