Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a Saw Operator I to join our manufacturing team in Texas. You will set up and operate a single-blade saw, read production schedules, and identify materials required for each run.

You will ensure materials meet quality specifications, perform basic math, maintain records, and participate in safety programs. Must be 18+ and have a minimal amount of saw experience. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment; some manufacturing experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a single-blade saw according to specifications.
• Read production scheduling sheets to identify required material.
• Ensure material meets quality specifications (grade, size, moisture).
• Feed material according to specifications.
• Perform routine equipment checks to ensure specifications are met.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; keep equipment safe.
• Complete pre-shift startup equipment inspection checklist.
• Maintain production records as required.
• Check materials and finished products for standards compliance.
• Follow safety and quality procedures and standards; perform LOTO as required.
• Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
• Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
• Completes pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Maintains production records as required.
• Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.
• Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
• Performs LOTO as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned
