Job summary

CITY OF CLAREMORE is seeking a Water Maintenance Technician I and II to perform unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance on city water and sewer systems, streets, driveways and related facilities. This is a safety-sensitive, hourly, non-exempt position with random drug testing and federal safety rules.

Duties include inspecting and repairing pipelines, maintaining records, locating utilities before excavation, operating trucks and power tools, and performing routine preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years water/sewer system experience preferred.
• Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and CDL Class B with air brake, or able to obtain.
• Certificate of Competency (DEQ) at D level or higher within one year.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair water distribution and sewer systems.
• Maintain records of inspections and maintenance activities.
• Identify utility locations before excavation.
• Notify residents about service shut-offs and restorations.
• Ensure equipment and tools are maintained and used safely.
• Operate trucks and various equipment for hauling and maintenance.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Follow safety and security standards in all duties.
• Perform construction and maintenance tasks as part of a crew.
