Job summary

The City of Pharr, Texas seeks a Full-Time Laborer to support water and sewer infrastructure on onsite assignments. You will install and repair water lines, hydrants, valves, and service lines while performing heavy manual labor in a safe, energetic team environment.

Candidates must understand methods for extension, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution and sanitary sewer systems, pass a background check, and operate a backhoe in tight spaces.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of water distribution and sanitary sewer system maintenance.
• Ability to interpret written work documents.
• Ability to operate a backhoe in confined spaces.
• Ability to detect leaks and malfunctions in water mains and sewer lines.
• Must pass a thorough criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Install water line extensions, service lines, hydrants, and valves.
• Repair broken lines by replacing sections or installing repair clamps.
• Dig trenches and lay sewer pipes and water lines.
• Support construction and maintenance of water and sewer systems.
