Job summary

City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Water Service Inspector to ensure safe, reliable operation of the Airport's potable and recycled water distribution systems. This role is bound to a provisional appointment and requires navigating a competitive process for permanent placement.

Under supervision, the inspector performs inspections, testing, monitoring, and regulatory compliance, handling meters, backflow devices, and related equipment.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a water or wastewater agency performing field and distribution operations.
• Possession of a valid California driver's license.
• Note: some positions may require additional qualifications such as special conditions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, install, remove, replace, and verify operation of water meters and related equipment.
• Investigate water service complaints and unusual water use; identify causes and actions.
• Read meters, calculate consumption, inspect properties for leaks, turn services on/off.
• Review construction plans; verify meter sizing and service locations.
