Job summary

Kamehameha Schools is seeking a Manager, Water Safety Programs at the Hawaii Campus in Keaau. This role leads water safety initiatives across pools, beaches, and open-water environments, directing lifeguards and safety staff, and aligning policies with KS standards for student programs.

The position involves risk management, facility oversight, and collaboration with vendors to ensure safe, compliant water activities year-round for PreK–12 students.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years managing aquatic environments.
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience including lifeguards.
• Experience with pool facility maintenance and safety.
• Current First Aid/CPR and Lifeguard certification.
• Must have or obtain CPO/AFO/CPT within 6 months of hire.
• Experience creating electronic data systems to manage processes and approvals.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and events.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor aquatic environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor comprehensive water safety protocols and risk plans.
• Hire, schedule, and supervise lifeguards and safety staff.
• Oversee aquatics budget, inventory, and chemical usage management.
• Maintain pool facilities and safety standards across multiple sites.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manage weather-related activity approvals.
• Support field-based aquatic programs and event operations.
