Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio addressing flooding, water quality, and resilient infrastructure. Hybrid work arrangement and opportunities for growth are offered.

The ideal candidate will manage planning through construction, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and regulators to deliver innovative water resources solutions using Civil 3D, ORD, and GIS tools.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional water resources engineering and analysis experience.
  • Project management experience and leading technical teams on relevant projects.
  • Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs.
  • Experience with PC SWMM, ArcGIS, AutoCAD and/or ORD.
  • PE license required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support water resources and civil infrastructure projects from planning through design and construction.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, client coordination, and project delivery.
  • Develop and review hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, watershed studies, floodplain evaluations, drainage designs, stormwater management plans, and resilience assessments using industry-standard software such as PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, HY-8, ArcGIS, and Bentley applications.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, design plans, construction documents, and specifications.
  • Assist with construction administration and implementation of water resource projects.
  • Advance digital delivery and model-based design practices through the use of Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, GIS, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to develop practical and forward-thinking solutions.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff while fostering a collaborative team culture.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Water Resources Project Manager

Location:

We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Project Manager to join our growing Water Resources team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects that help communities address flooding, improve water quality, enhance flood resiliency, and modernize critical infrastructure. The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, including watershed and master planning studies, stormwater management and drainage improvements, flood resilience planning and design, MS4 program support, green infrastructure and nature-based designs serving a range of public, institutional and private sector clients.

Experience with model-based design workflows with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD) to improve project delivery, visualization, and collaboration is highly desirable.

Qualifications

The full-time annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000 if located in Virginia. The base salary offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted salary range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.

Annual base salary is one component of VHB's Total Rewards package. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may receive annual incentive compensation bonuses, spot bonuses, and merit-based salary increases, providing opportunities to increase earnings beyond base pay.
