Job summary

JT Engineering, Inc. seeks a Water Resources Project Engineer to lead stormwater and hydrology projects across Wisconsin. The role emphasizes designing detention/retention systems, performing HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS/SWMM modeling, and integrating water resource solutions into municipal, transportation, and site development projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in water resources, a BS in Civil Engineering, and a PE license or plan to obtain within 12 months. Travel within Wisconsin may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with emphasis on Water Resources or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in water resources engineering focusing on stormwater management
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Proficiency in hydrologic/hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM) and AutoCAD Civil 3D; GIS proficiency
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal water regulations; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop stormwater management systems (detention/retention ponds, infiltration systems, conveyance channels) and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to assess water flow, flood risks, and drainage capacity using HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, SWMM, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate water resource solutions into transportation and site development projects
  • Prepare and review environmental reports, permits, and impact assessments, ensuring regulatory adherence and sustainability
  • Lead and manage water resource projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination
  • Serve as primary client contact, providing technical expertise and supporting proposal preparation
  • Conduct site inspections and oversee construction to ensure design specifications are met
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies, applying innovative solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff in water resource engineering
  • Adhere to internal Quality Control processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
