Job summary

The State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is seeking a Natural Resource Manager 2 in Anchorage to lead the Water Resources Section and supervise a team of professionals handling water management statewide.

The role emphasizes balancing stewardship with regulatory oversight, ensuring water-use regulations support sustainable resources for current and future generations, and coordinating statewide oil and gas water management functions.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary environmental science concepts including ecology, biology, physics, chemistry, geology and related sciences in protecting and improving the environment.
  • Persuades others; builds consensus and gains cooperation to obtain information and accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the water management unit and supervise six advanced-level professionals who manage water in Southcentral Alaska and statewide oil and gas water management.
  • Supervise construction sector and municipal water management statewide.
  • Balance stewardship with management of state water resources by ensuring operators establish and comply with water-use regulations.
  • Oversee statewide water resource programs and ensure regulatory compliance to maximize sustainable water resources.
