This on-the-job experience supports the firm's water resources group with design and construction of a variety of facilities and the opportunity to work directly with firm clients.

Qualifications

• Ongoing pursuit of a 4-year Civil Engineering degree.
• Maintain GPA 3.0–4.0.
• Available to start May 2027.
• Willing to travel throughout Chicago area with own transportation.
• Team-oriented with ability to work on multiple projects.
• Strong verbal, writing, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers with evaluation, study, and design of stormwater systems.
• Perform field studies and design of stormwater infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Transportation, and CAD teams.
• Support construction activities: quantity estimation, layout, surveying, and site inspections.

About the role

Your Impact Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an engineering internship in our Crystal Lake Chicago Naperville or Mokena IL offices This on the job experience will support the firms water resources group with the design and construction of a variety of facilities and offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients A variety of responsibilities and duties will provide a well rounded background in engineering

What your day to day will look like

• Assisting senior engineers with the evaluation study and design of stormwater systems
• Field work studies and design of stormwater infrastructure
• Collaboration with other technical departments Infrastructure Transportation CADD etc
• Construction work including quantity computation construction layout survey and construction inspection

Education Requirement

• Ongoing pursuit of a 4 year degree in Civil Engineering
• Maintain a minimum grade point average of 3040
• Available to start May 2027
• Ability to travel throughout Chicago area own transportation
• Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects
• Strong verbal computer organizational and writing skills

Compensation

The hourly pay for this role is 2300 Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set depth of experience and certifications
