Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Designer to work on stormwater and drainage projects across civil, transportation, and water resources disciplines. You will prepare drawings, perform hydrologic analyses, and support multi-disciplinary teams under experienced supervision.

The role requires knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit or related tools, plus strong communication and organizational skills. Hybrid/remote options available in South Carolina.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete hydrologic and hydraulic studies (floodplain, drainage improvement, climate resiliency, dam breach).
• Design and prepare construction drawings for water resources projects including drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, restoration.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS; Civil3D/OpenRoads experience preferred.
• Assist in the development of multiple projects and plans under supervision of a project engineer.
• Coordinate work across multiple disciplines and draft/CADD tasks; assist in progress reports and may supervise small projects.
• Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication; self-motivated and proactive.
• EIT certification preferred; ability to obtain PE within two years.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

The Engineering Designer should have experience with both stormwater modeling and design/implementation of drainage and conveyance infrastructure. This role includes working with current team members to complete flood studies/no‑rise analyses, bridge hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater master planning, municipal and DOT drainage/culvert analysis and design, and 2D hydraulic analyses. The Engineer will design and prepare drawings for various civil, transportation, traffic, structural, mechanical, water/wastewater, and utility projects, and will work closely under the supervision of a Professional Engineer, contributing to engineering calculations, drafting, and coordination of multiple engineering disciplines. The role requires knowledge of engineering principles, relevant design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit, strong communication, technical writing skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Open to hiring in any KCI South Carolina office with hybrid/remote options (Rock Hill, Greenville, Columbia, or Charleston).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of multiple projects and plans under the supervision of a project engineer or project manager.
• Perform work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment; assignments usually include engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation. Coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines, and draft/CADD work for the project. Assist in preparing progress reports and may supervise small projects.
• Candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and be a self‑motivated dynamic individual.
• EIT certification preferred; ability to obtain PE within two years required.
