Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer, EIT, to join our Water Resources team in the Twin Cities metro. You will support a range of stormwater projects, from preliminary design through construction, using CAD and hydraulics modeling to deliver safe, sustainable infrastructure.

Ideal candidates are May 2026 graduates or EITs with 1–3 years of experience, ready to contribute to design, modeling, and permitting while collaborating across teams on municipal and private projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis on water resources or related field
• Certified Engineer-in-Training or able to obtain within 12 months of hire
• Experience with CAD/design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation)
• Ability to learn drainage modeling software (XPSWMM, AutoDesk Storm & Sanitary, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS)
• Valid driver's license for travel to sites
• Experience or coursework with GIS software (ArcPro)
• Experience or coursework in hydrology and open channel hydraulics

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on water resources projects
• Develop hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for municipal storm drains and treatment
• Assist CAD production of storm drain improvements and SWPPPs
• Assist with NPDES/MS4 compliance and watershed district permitting
• Prepare drainage plans, specifications, and take-off estimates
• Develop regional stormwater plans or floodplain modeling
• Assist with design and permitting for stream and wetland restoration
• Field work including inspections, infiltration testing, site visits, and construction observation
