Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Civil Staff Engineer (EIT) to support civil design development for dams, bridges, and water resources projects for federal, state, and private clients.

You will work under project engineers and managers, applying design techniques, modeling methods, and construction support to deliver practical outcomes. The role emphasizes data collection, basic design tasks, and documentation, with opportunities to advance in an employee‑owned firm that values continuous learning

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
• 0–5 years of civil design experience; water resources experience is a plus.
• Ability to read, interpret, and communicate contract documents, plans, and specifications.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to manage multiple tasks.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% per month.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and gather relevant information and documentation.
• Perform standard computations and analyses.
• Complete basic design tasks and prepare drawings/visual aids.
• Assist with permit applications, drawings, and written documents.
• Prepare portions of project documentation and review specifications.
• Observe construction activities and field operations.
