Job summary

The City-of-Ann-Arbo seeks a Water Quality Technician for part-time, 16-29 hours per week, for 6-10 months. The role supports the Drinking Water Quality Manager across the office, treatment plant, and laboratory environments.

Applicants should be pursuing or have completed an undergraduate degree in relevant fields and bring hands-on experience in water treatment, lab work, and strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or having completed an undergraduate degree in a relevant field (Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Ecology, Data Science, or related area).
• Experience in water treatment or water chemistry and laboratory settings.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Good organizational skills.

The Water Quality Temp will work under the supervision of the Drinking Water Quality Manager in the office, treatment plant, and laboratory environments.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or having completed an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Ecology, Data Science, or related field
• Previous experience in water treatment or water chemistry and laboratory
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and general computer skills
• Strong communication skills, oral and written
• Good organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Pursuing a master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Ecology, Data Science, or a related field
• Hands-on experience with water treatment, water chemistry, or water microbiology in a laboratory setting or other hands-on setting
• Experience in data analysis, data science, and/or statistical analysis
• Familiar with R software for data analysis or other computer programming experience
