Job summary

City of Austin is seeking an Environmental Scientist to manage and conduct environmental protection projects, with responsibilities spanning fieldwork, data analysis, reporting, and regulatory review.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Environmental Science or related field with several years of experience; a Master's degree can substitute for part of the experience. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement at Austin locations and extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Life Science, Natural Science or related field plus four years of relevant experience.
• One additional year of experience may substitute for one year of the required education with a maximum substitution of four years.
• Master's Degree may substitute for two years of the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, and track resources for environmental projects.
• Design site selection and study plans.
• Operate and calibrate field equipment.
• Conduct chemical, biological and physical testing.
• Interpret water quality, flow, and biology data.
• Assist in reporting, data QA/QC, and memos.
• Review policies, regulations and codes.
• Support capital projects and development plans.
