Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a Pump Installer to install, repair and troubleshoot large water well pumps at client sites. The role involves coordinating job prep, safety, and equipment maintenance while traveling to remote locations.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma and 3–5 years of pump experience, CDL is preferred, and strong mechanical aptitude with safety focus. This is an on-site field position with physical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair company equipment (pump rig, service truck, welder, generator).
  • Support well rehabilitation using chemicals and mechanical methods.
  • Complete administrative tasks (reports, logs, timesheets).

General Summary The pump installer is responsible for installation, repair and troubleshooting of large water well pumps. Position travels to client sites where pumps are located.

Essential Job Accountabilities
  • Responsible for pump installation, repair and troubleshooting
  • Job preparation including assembling parts, supplies and materials
  • Training helpers and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Responsible for maintaining and repairing company issued equipment
  • Responsible for well rehabilitation efforts using chemicals and mechanical means
  • Administrative work including reports, driving logs, timesheets
Education
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Certification
  • Valid state driver’s license and Class A CDL
Work Experience
  • Must have 3-5 years previous pump installation and repair experience as Helper or Pump Installer in the water resources industry or similar industry
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have working understanding of pumps, motors, wells, electricity, controls, piping, rigging, chemicals and well rehabilitation tools
  • Must be extremely safety conscious and understand hazards and dangers associated with the job
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to maintain company equipment including pump rig, service truck, welder, generator, hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, chain wrenches and come-along
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to problem-solve when faced with obstacles
  • Ability to promote additional company offered services
  • Ability to train new employees
