Job summary

NW Natural Water Services is seeking a Water Operator in Newberg, Oregon. The role covers operation, maintenance, and repair of water (and sewer where applicable) systems.

The position is structured across Technician, Operator I, and Operator II levels based on qualifications and certifications. Responsibilities include installing and repairing mains, valves, meters, and related infrastructure; handling samples, safety procedures, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain required certifications within 90 days.
  • Must consent to annual MVR check and pass Criminal History check.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely.
  • Must be able to work weekends/variable shifts and participate in 24-hour on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

  • Install and repair water mains, fire hydrants, check valves and service lines, and perform related excavations.
  • Inspect, operate and exercise gate valves; flush hydrants and collect water samples for testing.
  • Locate distribution system facilities and leaks and install/replace meters.
  • Perform basic maintenance on water and wastewater facilities and operate service trucks.
  • Follow NW Natural Water Services safety policies and participate in team meetings.
