Job summary

City of Temple is seeking a Meter Technician I to perform essential maintenance on water meters and service lines. The role also supports the Metering Department with meter reading, work orders, re-reads, and water service disconnections and reconnections.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent and experience in plumbing or related water systems work. A valid driver’s license and TCEQ Class D Water license (or ability to obtain within six months) are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in plumbing or similar technical roles requiring work with water systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains water meters and service lines, including exchanges, repairs, leaks, cutoffs, and relocations.
• Reads meters, completes work orders, performs re-reads, and handles water service disconnections and reconnections.
• Follows city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
