Job summary

Arcadis seeks a Water & Hydraulic Engineer to join the Akron or Cincinnati office, working within the Water Resiliency Planning & Design Teams. Leverage your experience in wastewater, stormwater, and water distribution modeling to support municipal projects.

You will contribute to feasibility studies, design, and project pursuits, coordinate with teams and clients, and help grow Arcadis' water practice in the region.

Role description

Arcadis is seeking a Water & Hydraulic Engineer, to join our world-class firm in Akron or Cincinnati, OH working within our Water Resiliency Planning & Design Teams.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and independent professional to join our team locally with support from one of the best qualified consulting firms in the country. In this position you will utilize your professional experience and technical knowledge of wastewater collection, stormwater, water distribution systems modeling and planning, to assist the project teams they support in executing projects and developing project pursuits within the local and regional municipal market of this office, to help build and grow our practice.

Role accountabilities

Performing engineering activities for wastewater collection system, stormwater, and water distribution modeling, evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies, and preliminary design. Work may also include a variety of other water/wastewater infrastructure, including water and wastewater treatment and water / wastewater facilities design, utilities assessments and design.

Assisting others with defining scope of work and objectives through research and fact-finding, combined with a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements you will ensure project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.

By exercising independent judgement on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives, you will coordinate for timely completion and submission of project deliverables. This may include producing and reviewing technical reports, construction documents, and cost estimates for projects.

Regular participation with industry Association's; attending workshops, making presentations, and reviewing professional publications.

Qualifications & Experience

• Hydraulic modeling, planning & engineering knowledge for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling (SWMM experience preferred) of wastewater collection, stormwater, and water distribution systems.
• Experience with programming, GIS, InfoWorks ICM, and HEC-RAS Modeling.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, public speaking/presenting, effective communication with team members, clients and other stakeholders
• Exceptional Microsoft Office skills

Required Qualifications

• BS degree OR MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training Certification (EIT) or ability to obtain within 1 year
• Previous internship experience with an engineering consulting firm, municipality or other closely related work
• Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling (SWMM and/or InfoWorks ICM experience expected) of wastewater and stormwater collection systems.

The salary range for this position is $60,720 - $91,080. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
