Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Office Engineer to support water and wastewater construction projects in New York City. The role covers documentation processing, change orders, RFIs, transmittals, and close collaboration with engineering staff.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree with 4 years of related experience, NYC DEP project exposure, and the ability to clear a motor vehicle check. PE is preferred; alternate documentation needs are welcomed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• New York City Department of Environmental Protection project experience.
• Ability to clear a Motor Vehicle Check required.
• Experience in water/wastewater projects as Office Engineer preferred.
• Experience with documentation such as change orders, submittals, RFIs, NCRs, transmittals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports all administrative actions of the Resident Engineer.
• Process change orders, submittals, RFIs, NCRs, transmittals, and other project-related documentation.
• Assist with engineering calculations and general procedures to achieve results and deadlines.
• May supervise junior technicians and monitor field quality control tasks.
• Maintain logs for submittals, RFIs, and contract changes; prepare monthly construction status reports.

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Office Engineer to support water and wastewater construction projects in New York City.

The duties and responsibilities will include the following:

• Supports all administrative actions of the Resident Engineer
• Office Engineer will be responsible for the documentation and processing of change orders, submittals, RFIs, NCRs, transmittals, and other project-related documentation
• Performs a variety of tasks in support of the engineering staff
• Activities may include assisting with engineering calculations
• General understanding of procedures, company policies to achieve set results and deadlines
• May oversee work of junior-level technicians
• Monitors and controls field quality control surveys, materials tests and quantity calculations to verify construction contractors’ progress payments
• Maintains Submittals and Request for Information (RFI) logs using software Tools for the project
• Maintains document control logs
• Assist with the Processing of Contract Change Orders (CCO) and resolution of CCO requests
• Maintains construction scheduling by evaluation of contract schedule submittals, attends weekly construction field meetings, and prepares a construction status report on a monthly basis
• Process Design Service Requests (DSR), survey requests, and material testing requests

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

• Bachelor's Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education required
• New York City Department of Environmental Protection project experience
• Ability to clear a Motor Vehicle Check required
• Experience in water/wastewater projects as Office Engineer preferred
• Experience with other water/wastewater-related project documentation such as documentation and processing of change orders, submittals, RFIs, NCRs, transmittals preferred
• PE preferred

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.

The expected salary for this position is $108,000 - $132,000.
