Job summary

Our client, a growing consulting engineering firm in Louisiana, seeks an experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer to join their collaborative team. You will work on municipal infrastructure projects from planning through construction and permit coordination.

Responsibilities include designing water and wastewater systems, performing hydraulic analyses, and preparing reports and bid documents while coordinating with regulatory agencies and project managers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Five to seven years of directly related water and wastewater engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment and collection systems, pump stations, and pipeline design.

Responsibilities

As a Water/Wastewater Engineer, you will:

  • Plan and design municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Design water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Design water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, force mains, lift stations, pump stations, pipelines, storage facilities, and related utility improvements.
  • Perform engineering calculations and hydraulic analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.
  • Conduct field investigations, facility assessments, and condition evaluations.
  • Prepare permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate existing treatment processes and recommend system improvements.
  • Support rehabilitation and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Provide construction administration support, including reviewing submittals, responding to contractor questions, conducting site visits, and assisting during project construction.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, contractors, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop reliable, practical, maintainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Five to seven years of directly related water and wastewater engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Wastewater treatment systems
  • Wastewater collection systems
  • Pump stations and pumping systems
  • Pipeline and utility infrastructure design
  • Construction methods
  • Engineering standards and permitting requirements

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • AutoCAD
  • Hydraulic modeling software (WaterCAD, SewerCAD, InfoWater, or similar)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Other municipal engineering software
