Job summary

CITY OF WICHITA seeks workers for maintenance and replacement of water mains, hydrants, valves, and service lines. You will assist skilled workers and operate trucks and heavy equipment in all weather conditions.

Six months of related experience and a Kansas driver's license are required; within six months you must obtain a Class A CDL. Hazardous work and on-site supervision are standard, with pre-employment screenings and random drug testing applied.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience operating construction/utility vehicle or heavy equipment.
• Valid Kansas Driver's License.
• Ability to acquire a Class A CDL within six months of employment.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction and repair of water mains, hydrants, service lines, and related facilities.
• Assist in installing, operating, repairing, and replacing water distribution system appurtenances.
• Perform minor servicing on equipment (refueling, lubrication, cleaning, adjustments).
• Operate a truck and assist in loading/unloading materials.
• Dig ditches and excavations; operate heavy equipment with attachments.
