Job summary

Barrow County BOC seeks a Water Distribution Technician to support operation and maintenance of the county's water system. The role involves locating lines, operating SCADA, turning on/off services, and performing water sampling and hydrant maintenance. Physical work outdoors, safety-sensitive with drug testing applies.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED, 1–2 years in water field work, and a valid driver’s license. A water distribution certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 1–2 years related water field experience.
• Water distribution certificate preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license; ability to operate county vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Responds to customer service requests.
• Locates water lines and mains.
• Operate SCADA equipment.
• Disconnects water services as directed.
• Turns water services on as directed.
• Collects water samples to check chlorine levels.
• Repairs water lines and mains.
• Installs and repairs water meters.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
• Operates tracking equipment and other heavy machinery.
• Reads water meters and flushes hydrants.
• Conducts pressure tests and flow tests.
• Performs related duties.
