University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Fremont, NE, seeks an Extension Instructor or Open Rank Extension Educator in Water & Cropping Systems for Dodge County. The role includes delivering research-based programming, building partnerships, and translating complex research into practical learning experiences for diverse audiences across Dodge, Cuming, and Washington Counties.

The position is twelve months, non-tenure track, with potential for open rank depending on education level.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in agronomy, crop science, plant sciences, or a closely related field (extension educator) OR bachelor’s degree in agronomy, crop science, plant sciences, or a closely related field (extension instructor).
• Demonstrated ability to connect and engage with local farmers, agribusiness, and colleagues through relationships, programming, and service.
• Field experience in production agriculture with an emphasis on cropping systems relevant to Nebraska agriculture.
• Successful experience teaching in a formal or non-formal setting.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate (i.e., publications, presentations, web, and social media).

Responsibilities

• Develops and delivers proactive, innovative, and engaging educational programs and products with significant reach and impact.
• Establishes and sustains a strong local and regional clientele base and programming portfolio.
• Collaborates with Extension specialists and research faculty to conduct applied/validation research.
• Leads teams and contributes to high-performing Extension programming groups.
• Completes annual PEARS data entry and reporting requirements; fulfills IANR reporting.
• Works with local leaders to build partnerships and identify needs for responsive programming.
