Job summary

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services seeks a Water and Climate Analyst to lead climate planning efforts and ensure sustainable water resources for the Twin Cities region. You will organize climate tools, manage projects, and support policy and planning decisions.

The role requires a strong background in climate resiliency, adaptation, and mitigation, with collaboration across internal teams and external partners to advance water planning and regional climate goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with five years of experience, including some project management or team lead experience.
• Master's degree with three years of experience, including some project management or team lead experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation of actions within the Climate Action Work Plan to improve climate resiliency of planning and operations.
• Initiate and manage projects with internal teams and external consultants to create climate tools and resources.
• Participate in climate-related project teams and initiatives led by other units or external agencies.
• Collaborate with state and regional partners on climate and water planning efforts.
• Review local water management and planning documents and coordinate reviews with planning staff.
• Update the Climate Action Work Plan for 2028-2033 with other climate planners.
• Develop written communication materials for internal and external use.
• Apply knowledge of local government climate and water planning practices to implement policies.
• Maintain awareness of evolving technologies and science related to climate issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
