Job summary

Tom Trese Networking LLC in Parsippany, NJ is seeking a Water Resources Project Manager (Water and Wastewater) to lead projects from planning through construction for municipal and utility clients. The role requires 8+ years in a consulting environment, a NJ PE license (comity acceptable), and hands-on design authorship with strong regulatory coordination and client relationship skills.

Hybrid work available in Morris County.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of water and wastewater experience in a consulting environment.
• New Jersey PE license, or PE in another state with comity; strong EIT considered.
• Hands-on design authorship: drawings, specs, basis of design reports, permits prepared.
• Working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and the permitting process.
• Experience managing client relationships and writing fee proposals.

Responsibilities

• Full lifecycle project management on water and wastewater projects from planning through construction.
• Scope, schedule, fee and budget management including proposals and scope negotiation.
• Direction of design team producing drawings, specifications, basis of design reports and contract documents.
• Regulatory coordination with NJDEP including treatment works approvals and NJPDES permits.
• Maintain client relationships with municipal and authority clients post-project.
• Coordinate funding with NJ Infrastructure Bank, NJ Water Bank and SRF programs.
• Mentor project engineers and junior staff.

Water Resources Project Manager (Water and Wastewater)

Location: Parsippany, New Jersey (Morris County). Hybrid, three days on site.

Compensation: $120,000 to $160,000 base, depending on experience, plus a discretionary year end bonus.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is a privately held northern New Jersey consulting engineering firm, in business for over forty years, serving municipalities, utilities, authorities, county and state agencies, and private clients. Many of the municipal and utility clients the firm started with are still clients today. The firm is growing steadily and has been named a Best Place to Work three years running.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

• Full lifecycle project management on water and wastewater treatment, pumping station, force main, distribution and collection system projects, from planning through construction


• Scope, schedule, fee and budget on each project, including proposal development and scope negotiation


• Direction of the design team producing drawings, specifications, basis of design reports and contract documents


• Front facing regulatory coordination with NJDEP, including Treatment Works Approvals, NJPDES permits and water quality management planning


• Client relationships with municipal and authority clients that you carry after the project closes


• Funding coordination with the NJ Infrastructure Bank, NJ Water Bank and State Revolving Fund programs


• Mentorship of project engineers and junior staff

The practice spans PFAS treatment (GAC, ion exchange, membranes), BNR, SBR and MBR processes, solids handling, distribution and collection systems, pump stations, force mains, vacuum sewer, lead service line replacement, wastewater management planning and asset management.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related field


• 8+ years of water and wastewater experience in a consulting environment, with demonstrated ownership of scope, schedule and budget


• New Jersey PE license, or a PE in another state with the ability to obtain NJ licensure by comity. A strong EIT with the PE exam scheduled will be considered


• Hands on design authorship earlier in your career: drawings, specifications, basis of design reports and permit applications you personally prepared


• Working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and the permitting process


• Experience carrying client relationships and writing fee proposals

WHAT IS ON OFFER

• Base salary of $120,000 to $160,000 depending on experience, plus a discretionary year end bonus based on individual, team and company performance


• Your own client relationships, in a firm small enough that the client knows your name and large enough to staff the work behind you
