Job summary

Fuss & O'Neill is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Project Manager to lead projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with clients/regulators.

You will guide design, evaluation, and optimization of treatment processes, manage budgets and schedules, and support business development while mentoring junior engineers in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
  • PE license as a Professional Engineer.
  • 8+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design and process engineering.
  • Strong expertise in municipal wastewater treatment and nutrient removal.
  • Proven experience managing projects, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with process modeling tools such as BioWin or GPS‑X is a plus.
  • Experience with funding programs (SRF, USDA Rural Development) a plus.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5‑10% throughout New England.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades.
  • Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR).
  • Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems.
  • Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations.
  • Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Support permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide construction‑phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proven experience managing projects, delivering on time and within budget
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD required

The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company's good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
