Job summary

Peak Rentals is seeking a Resident Wastewater Operator to responsibly run the wastewater facility during scheduled residencies, ensuring pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other treatment equipment remain operational.

The essential duties include monitoring effluent and inbound waste, guiding drivers on safety procedures, and collaborating with other operators and managers to address treatment issues.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required.
  • Obtain/maintain Class D Wastewater Operator Certification within 2 years; Class C within 2 years of D.
  • Willingness to participate in training opportunities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and log information; use PPE correctly.
  • Ability to operate powered hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor effluent to maintain compliance and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Monitor inbound waste loads to ensure proper parameters.
  • Direct driver to follow safety procedures on site.
  • Coordinate with other operators and managers for treatment guidance.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, spills, and issues to supervisor.
  • Record daily system readings and inspections; maintain records.
  • Enter data into information systems and maintain records.
  • Keep logs of equipment maintenance, repairs, and waste shipments.
  • Collect and process storm water samples as needed.
  • Perform indoor/outdoor maintenance to keep the facility safe and tidy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

Peak’s Resident Wastewater Operator is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a wastewater facility during a scheduled residency. Ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment, and other wastewater treatment equipment are always operational.

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Monitor effluent to maintain compliance and adjust treatment regimen as needed.
  • Monitor inbound waste loads to ensure they meet the proper inbound parameters so that the waste will not negatively impact the plant's health or compliance status.
  • Interacts with and directs driver to adhere to safety procedures while on US Ecology property.
  • Reach out to other operators and manager as needed for assistance on how to treat waste when issues arise.
  • Promptly report equipment malfunctions, waste spills, and other issues to supervisor.
  • Records daily system readings and inspections as needed.
  • Enters data into information systems and maintains system records.
  • Keeps records of equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Keeps logs and records of waste received and shipped off-site.
  • Collects and processes storm water samples as needed.
  • Performs indoor and outdoor maintenance of the facility to ensure a tidy and safe work environment, to include weed trimming and grass cutting, as needed.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Possess a valid Texas Drivers License.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and abide by all traffic laws, rules, and regulations when operating a company vehicle or equipment.
  • Must obtain/maintain a Class “D” Wastewater Operator Certification and achieve a class “C” Wastewater Operator Certification within 2 years of receipt of the class “D” certification.
  • Training Offered.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Read and log both analog and digital information.
  • Properly utilize personal protection equipment as required by appropriate safety protocols.
  • Operate powered hand tools.
Compensation Information

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Physical Demands and Exposures
  • Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme cold and heat, near moving mechanical parts; exposure to high wind, ice, snow, wet and/or humid conditions, vibration, and dust is expected.
  • Shift work one week on one week off.
  • Work 24 Hours a day which includes weekends/holidays.
  • Exposure to noise levels requiring the use of hearing protection.
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, walking.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to individually lift: Maximum 50 lbs.
