Paycom - ATS is seeking an Industrial Wastewater Operator to manage daily pretreatment operations, monitor equipment, collect samples, and report data. You will work with maintenance and environmental teams to ensure regulatory compliance and accurate KPI records. A strong emphasis on safety and documentation is required.

Requires 3–5 years in municipal or industrial wastewater, and a High School Diploma or GED. Position is on-site and may include extended hours to meet production needs.

MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD AND CURRENTLY NOT ENROLLED IN HIGH SCHOOL“This role will require extended hours based on production needs, including work to be performed after regular business hours and on weekends.”Position Summary:This is a skilled Industrial Wastewater Operator position that oversees the daily operation and maintenance of a complex industrial wastewater pretreatment system which contains a variety of wastewater treatment processes and auxiliary equipment for the processing and handling of industrial wastewater and generated industrial byproducts. Preventive Maintenance (PM) and all necessary tasks to maintain the facility are part of this position duties and responsibilities. Reports to plant engineer or designated maintenance supervisor.Essential Functions:Oversee and direct daily functions of the wastewater facility – including operational procedures and logistics, data collection, assigned tasks, process control, and assessing facility needs.Routinely communicate and work closely with Maintenance and Environmental Compliance management teams to ensure facility is functioning properly and reporting issues that may bring facility out of compliance.Build good working relationships with the city, state, and federal regulatory agencies.Provide information (monitoring and testing data) and help direct Engineers, vendors, and contractors on projects.Operate and monitor all wastewater pretreatment plant equipment and make necessary adjustments based on findings.Collect periodic samples, perform, and record the results of various laboratory tests to assess and monitor the condition of the system to determine optimal chemical and biological treatment.Maintain the efficiency of plant and laboratory operations, including maintenance of equipment pumps, filters, and machinery, testing, quality control and record keeping procedures.Read and record meter, chart recorders, and gauge readings.Maintain plant records including - operations logs, daily diaries, computer data entry (KPI reports) and chemical inventories.Responsible for data collection and data entry supporting DMR in a timely manner.In accordance with the Wastewater Discharge Permit, collect and submit all required effluent sampled to a certified laboratory.Ensure timely reporting to local authorities and management if an upset or exceedance occurs.Perform ground maintenance and housekeeping duties as needed.Assist in completing monthly safety deliverables – safety huddles, etc.Complete other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Knowledge of:Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.Chemical safety practices.General math and basic algebra skills.Practices and procedures used in the operation and maintenance of industrial wastewater pretreatment systems, specifically monitoring and responding to data to adjust system operations.Sampling methods and the physical and chemical tests used in treatment plant control.Servicing requirements of moving machinery.Hazards and safety practices involved in working around high voltage equipment and moving machinery.Process quality control requirements and remedial measures in dealing with process malfunctions and emergencies.Ability to:Operate and maintain pumps, motors, and equipment.Use Microsoft Excel (including data entry, basic math formulas, formatting, basic charts and graphs).Provide reports and communicate updates to management regarding facility operations, efficiencies, and projective trends for planning purposes.Read meters, chart recorders, gauges, and other recording instruments.Maintain operating records.Operate a computer-based interface for controlling mechanical processes.Make mathematical computations, read, and comprehend other written materials.Perform technical and specialized processes pertinent to wastewater treatment plant work, including required laboratory analysis, data analysis, and reporting.Communicate and coordinate with maintenance team and contractors to perform repairs and installations.Use common hand tools.Work independently yet be able to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.Work harmoniously with others.Operate a motor vehicle.Health and Physical Condition Requirements:Regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.Regularly climb stairs and ladders.Able to work in wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.Experience:Three to five years working with municipal and/or industrial wastewater.Education /Training:High School Diploma or GED.License or Certificate:Valid Motor Vehicle Operators License.
