Job summary

The City of Grand Junction seeks a Wastewater Project Manager with an engineering background to lead infrastructure projects supporting wastewater capital improvements at the Persigo facility. The role encompasses planning, budgeting, design, permitting, and construction administration.

You will coordinate with internal teams and external partners to deliver critical projects on time, within scope, and in compliance with public health standards. A strong civil engineering background is essential.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of increasing professional engineering and/or construction management experience.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with civil engineering course work.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a Colorado driver's license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, PE licensure in Colorado within one year.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development, implementation, and administration of capital improvement programs and budgets.
• Participate in selection of private contractors and consultant engineers.
• Develop construction plans, specifications, contract and bid documents, and cost estimates.
• Help implement goals, policies, and priorities for assigned programs.
• Coordinate reviews by City departments and outside agencies.

Job description

The City of Grand Junction seeks a creative, solution-oriented Wastewater Project Manager with an engineering background and will work primarily on infrastructure projects to support wastewater capital projects. This position will involve planning, budgeting, design, permitting, and construction administration for a variety of wastewater projects including improvements at the Persigo Wastewater Treatment Facility. We are searching for an individual with experience in implementing critical projects while maintaining positive working relationships with both internal and external customers.

About the City of Grand Junction Wastewater Services Division:

The City of Grand Junction Wastewater Division provides wastewater collection services for about 30,000 customers. Our system ensures the safe and efficient transport of wastewater from homes and businesses to treatment facilities, helping protect public health and the environment. The Wastewater Division has a staff of dedicated employees working together in areas such as Collections Operations, Lift Station Maintenance, System Inspection, and Customer Service in order to provide excellent service to our community. Our employees are responsible for monitoring and maintaining hundreds of miles of sewer line, numerous lift stations, thousands of manholes, and the infrastructure necessary to support the City’s wastewater collection system.

What You’ll Do:

• Participate in the development, implementation, and administration of the wastewater division’s capital improvement programs, review engineering reports and budget estimates prepared by staff and outside consultants.
• Participate in the selection of private contractors and consultant engineers for various projects.
• Develop and present construction plans, specifications, contract documents, bid documents and cost estimates for proposed projects.
• Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities for assigned programs.
• Coordinate reviews by other City departments and outside agencies.

What We're Looking For:

• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional engineering and/or construction management experience.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with course work in civil engineering, construction technology, or a related field.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado within one (1) year of employment.

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
