Job summary

AE2S in Fargo, ND is seeking a Wastewater Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead design, planning, and execution of municipal wastewater projects, while mentoring junior engineers and strengthening client relationships.

You will manage budgets and schedules, coordinate multi-discipline teams, pursue new project opportunities, and guide communities through funding, permitting, and construction challenges to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer license ideal or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • 6+ years of municipal civil engineering experience with a strong wastewater focus.
  • Ability to travel as required for business development and project responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Maintain stellar reputation for integrity, fairness, reliability, and good judgment.
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional services for wastewater engineering projects including design, plans, specifications, reports, budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub-consultants and contractors.
  • Provide professional services for the design and construction of wastewater collection systems and treatment facilities.
  • Work within multi-discipline projects that include civil, electrical, and architectural aspects.
  • Identify, evaluate, pursue, and manage project opportunities.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
  • Maintain budgets and schedules and sustain client relationships and communication.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers, technicians, and other project team members.
  • Gather critical data to assist clients with project financing and funding development.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional services for wastewater engineering projects to include design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub-consultants and contractors
  • Provide professional services for the design and construction of wastewater collection systems, and wastewater treatment facilities

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer ideal or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • 6+ years of experience in municipal civil engineering with a strong interest in the wastewater market sector
  • Ability to travel as required for business development and project/client responsibilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Maintain stellar reputation for integrity, fairness, reliability, good judgment and aptitude among peers, management, and staff
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Design work and knowledge with wastewater treatment and collection systems, utility planning, and other municipal vertical and horizontal infrastructure
  • Experience leading both internal initiatives and external projects
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
Physical Qualifications
  • Ability to walk up to 3-miles on uneven terrain
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to, flame resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear
  • May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload
  • May be required to travel to off-site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town
