Job summary

Kennedy Jenks Consultants is seeking a motivated Wastewater Process Engineer to join our Washington-based Wastewater Infrastructure team. You will work on planning, design, and optimization of facilities, pumps, and collection systems to improve performance and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, advance treatment strategies, and communicate effectively with clients and regulators. A hybrid work model is offered with two days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant wastewater process engineering experience.
  • Wastewater treatment processes, regulations, technologies, system design, optimization, and compliance documentation.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE licensure in WA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advance process planning and design: develop wastewater treatment plans, designs, upgrades, and optimization strategies.
  • Evaluate treatment needs: assess system performance, develop alternatives, and inform practical solutions.
  • Coordinate technical deliverables: assist Project Managers with detailed design and coordination tasks across civil infrastructure projects.
  • Improve treatment processes: identify improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication: prepare project updates and compliance documentation for clients, regulators, and stakeholders.

Kennedy Jenks is seeking a motivated Wastewater Process Engineer to join our growing Wastewater Infrastructure team in Washington. This role focuses on wastewater treatment planning, design, and optimization projects that improve system performance, regulatory compliance, and environmental outcomes.

You'll work with multidisciplinary teams on wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, collection systems, upgrades, and expansions.

What You'll Do
  • Advance process planning and design: Develop wastewater treatment plans, designs, upgrades, and optimization strategies.
  • Evaluate treatment needs: Apply engineering analysis to assess system performance, develop alternatives, and inform practical solutions.
  • Coordinate technical deliverables: Assist Project Managers and Process Leads with detailed design, technical deliverables, and coordination tasks for small to large civil infrastructure projects, including wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and collection systems.
  • Improve treatment processes: Identify physical, chemical, and biological treatment improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance.
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication: Prepare project updates, technical discussions, and compliance‑related documentation for clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Technical knowledge: Wastewater treatment processes, regulations, technologies, system design, optimization, and compliance documentation.
  • Certifications or licenses: Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification required; progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Washington preferred.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed for project sites, client meetings, and collaboration with Kennedy Jenks offices.

Salary range for this position is anticipated to be between $120,000 and $175,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
