Job summary

City of Madera is hiring for experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators to join our Public Works team, ensuring reliable plant operations, protecting public health and the environment.

Under supervision, operates and maintains wastewater treatment facilities, monitoring controls and performing lab-related duties; automatic promotion is possible based on certification level and the City pays exam and certification fees.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment laboratory or related work.
• High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in laboratory testing and analysis.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Grade 2 Certificate as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator from the California State Water Quality Control Board.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Perform maintenance and routine testing of plant systems and laboratories.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and safety regulations while performing duties.
• May assist in training lower level operators as needed.
