Job summary

The City of Port Huron seeks a Wastewater Treatment Plant Equipment Operator I to operate and maintain heavy equipment, perform lubrication, maintenance, and routine duties at the WWTP. The role requires safe operation of vehicles and adherence to regulations.

You will manage basic records, assist with field tasks, snow removal, landscaping, and minor repairs, with a focus on safety and efficiency. Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Salary range shown in the posting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of operation and maintenance requirements for automotive and power-driven equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor under all weather conditions.
• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must understand traffic laws and safe driving practices.
• Must be able to operate equipment safely and in accordance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate vans, pickups, and heavier trucks to remote sites, move equipment, and run rounds for materials.
• Operate pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical equipment and maintain safety protocols.
• Read lubrication references and maintenance routines for equipment.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of lubrication and maintenance activities.
• Perform lawn care, snow removal, minor carpentry, and general maintenance tasks.
