Job summary

City of Des Moines Wastewater Reclamation Authority seeks a maintenance helper to assist in operation and upkeep of the Wastewater Reclamation Authority's buildings, structures, and assets. Under supervision, collaboratively supports staff and interacts with city employees and the public.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and substantial semi-skilled labor experience in repair/maintenance of stationary equipment at water or manufacturing facilities, plus a valid Iowa

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Considerable semi-skilled labor experience in repair and maintenance of stationary equipment at a water, wastewater, or manufacturing facility.
• Possession of a valid State of Iowa driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Wastewater Reclamation Authority facilities, structures, buildings and assets.
• Assists designated staff with lubrication and general maintenance on stationary equipment.
• Observes meters and gauges and makes adjustments to equipment under direction.
• Maintains operating logs and records of hours, temperatures, pressures and fuel consumption.
• Performs custodial and gate-keeping duties as needed.
• Participates in general grounds maintenance including mowing and snow removal as required.
