Job summary

Epwpcoa in Hamburg, PA seeks an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to manage daily operation and maintenance of the treatment plant and collection system, and to support the Hamburg Water System.

This hourly position requires at least 3 years in water/wastewater, knowledge of plant equipment, ability to read prints/data, and proficiency with Word and Excel; duties include lab tests, adjusting parameters, maintaining logs, and responding to alarms; weekend and holiday coverage

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in the water and/or wastewater industry.
• Knowledge of functions of all plant equipment.
• Ability to direct and interact with personnel and consultants.
• Knowledge of maintenance of wastewater control equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret prints/data.
• Knowledge of engineering principles in wastewater.
• Knowledge of federal and state reporting requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

• Perform daily lab test procedures and ensure parameter limits.
• Recommend daily adjustments to maintain permit compliance.
• Calculate flow rates and adjust operations accordingly.
• Maintain and clean Authority facilities and sites.
• Locate laterals, trunks, traps and perform I/I investigations.
• Operate and maintain sewage pump stations.
• Keep daily logs and plant records for inspections.
• Cover shifts and respond to alarms and emergencies.
• Perform process control and sludge handling as required.
